Pia Pinger, professor at ECONtribute at the University of Cologne, and her colleagues studied the impact of a mentoring program for elementary school children with lower socioeconomic status on their development. The result: the probability to switch to the highest secondary school in Germany after elementary school increases by eleven percentage points after receiving individual support.
