Both teams coached by ECONtribute have reached this year’s regional finals of the YES! Economic Summit. YES! is the largest school competition on economic and political challenges in Germany.
Cluster member Tom Zimmermann, University of Cologne, coaches the Gymnasium Petrinum from Brilon. The students address the question “My house, my pension, my cell phone – how do I make smart financial decisions”. Hendrik Hakenes, the mentoring cluster member from the University of Bonn, assists the Engelsburg Gymnasium in Kassel. Jointly, the group tries to provide solutions to the problem of how the financial sector can help solve global problems.
The regional finals will take place online on June 24. There, the ECONtribute teams will compete with five other schools. The students themselves will determine the winners of the regional finals who will advance to the national finals.
At the two-day national finals, the best teams from Germany will then discuss their solution ideas with national and international experts. The winners of the YES! Bundesfinale will be invited to the award ceremony at the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy in Berlin.
