Co-Creating Tomorrow: A Workshop on Human-AI Collaboration

Artificial intelligence (AI) is increasingly shaping the way we live and work.
Understanding how humans and AI can collaborate effectively is now more important
than ever. The University of Cologne continues to be committed to fostering cutting-
edge, interdisciplinary research in this field – a commitment we fully share.

Following the success of our workshops in 2023 and 2024, we are excited to host the
third edition of “Co-Creating Tomorrow: A Workshop on Human-AI Collaboration”
in 2025. The previous workshops attracted engaged participants from various
disciplines and universities, facilitated novel research collaborations, and were praised
for their interactive, interdisciplinary format. We have continuously refined the workshop
structure based on participant feedback to maximize its impact.
Our aim remains to bring together young researchers (advanced Master’s students and
PhD candidates) and faculty from economics, information systems, psychology,
management, and related fields. This diverse group will co-develop innovative research
ideas addressing the challenges and opportunities in human-AI collaboration.

The workshop will take place on September 25-26, 2025 at the University of Cologne,
including coffee breaks and lunch on both days, as well as dinner on the first day.

Day 1 (September 25):
In an introductory keynote, we will provide participants valuable insights into the current
state and future prospects of human-AI collaboration research. Guided by mentors,
participants will work on developing promising interdisciplinary research ideas in small
groups.

Day 2 (September 26):
On the second day of the workshop, participants will continue group work and engage in
round table discussions to further develop their research idea. The workshop will close
with final presentations from the groups and a conferral of a prize for the most promising
research idea.
