We cordially invite you to our virtual Selten Lecture in 2025. Prof. Dr. Dr. Ulrike Malmendier will deliver the annual Selten research keynote on “CEO Social Preferences and Layoffs”. The event is taking place online via Zoom on January, 27, 2025 at 5.00 pm CET.
Ulrike Malmendier will address the impact of CEO social preferences on firms’ labor adjustment. Managerial preferences arising through social interactions are an economically important factor regarding the number of layoffs during the CEO’s tenure. In this context, the influence on the manager’s accelerated long-run mortality is also addressed.
Ulrike Malmendier is a member of the German Council of Economic Experts and a professor at the University of California in Berkeley. She studied economics and law at the University of Bonn, where she also completed her doctorate in law. Since 2024, Ulrike Malmendier is an ECONtribute Research Fellow.
