YEP Mini Course with Lukas Hensel (Peking University)

Lukas Hensel (Peking University) will give a mini course on ‘Randomized Experiments in Development Economics: Theory and Practice’ for doctoral students and postdocs of the University of Cologne and University of Bonn.

Content:

This course will cover the recent developments in the theory and practice of running randomized controlled trials (RCTs) in developing countries (though many lessons will be applicable to RCTs in other contexts as well). The content includes experimental design (e.g., power calculations, randomization techniques), statistical inference (e.g., pre-analysis plans, adjustment for multiple hypothesis testing), measurement,  fundraising, and applying findings in the real world. We will also discuss a few recent papers that made excellent use of RCTs to answer questions that go beyond evaluating treatment effects of interventions (references will be circulated a few weeks prior to the course).
