Shakked Noy (MIT) will give a mini course on ‘The Economics of Generative Artificial Intelligence’ for doctoral students and postdocs of the University of Cologne and University of Bonn.
This mini course is about the potential economic and labor market impacts of generative AI. The course will begin by covering the history of automation and the history of economic perspectives on automation, with a focus on similarities and differences between historical automation technologies and generative AI. The course will then cover emerging evidence on the economic impacts of recent generative AI technologies, and then discuss several hypotheses about the medium- and long-run economic effects of generative AI technologies.
