Sebastian Siegloch expands the Cluster of Excellence as new professor

Sebastian Siegloch becomes Professor in Economics at the Cluster of Excellence ECONtribute at the Faculty of Management, Economics and Social Sciences at the University of Cologne, starting June 1, 2022.

Siegloch obtained his PhD in Economics from the University of Cologne in 2013. Before joining ECONtribute, he was a Professor of Economics at the University of Mannheim and Head of the Research Area “Inequality and Public Policy” at the ZEW-Leibniz Centre for European Economic Research.

In his research, Sebastian Siegloch focuses on local public finance,  business taxes, housing policy, inequality and policy evaluation. He is currently working on a large scale research project titled “Housing, Inequality and Public policies (HIPPO)”, wich ist funded with an ERC starting grant.

Prof. Dr. Matthias Heinz, spokesman of the ECONtribute Cluster of Excellence in Cologne, is thrilled about the appointment: “Sebastian Siegloch is a great asset to the University of Cologne. His research at the intersection of public, labor and urban economics ideally fits the profile of the cluster. We are very much looking forward to working with him.”

Also ECONtribute welcomes Thomas Leopold as a new faculty member. Leopold is a professor for Methods of Empirical Social Research at the Institute of Sociology and Social Psychology at the University of Cologne and will now support the cluster in the Research Area Behavioral Foundations.
