Arno Apffelstaedt is an Assistant Professor of Organizational Economics at the University of Cologne and an Associate Member of ECONtribute and the Center for Social and Economic Behavior (C-SEB). He received his PhD in Economics from the University of Hamburg in 2018. Prior to joining the University of Cologne, he was a visiting researcher at the London School of Economics (2014–2015) and at Harvard University (2016). He is a behavioral economist who combines theoretical and experimental approaches to study how cognitive biases, group identities, and social incentives shape behavior, beliefs, and institutional outcomes in organizations and markets. His current research focuses on group image concerns, figleafing, and model persuasion in performance evaluations.
