Chitralekha Basu is an Assistant Professor of Political Science at the University of Cologne. Her research focuses on the relationship between political parties and public opinion and implications for electoral representation. She has also studied the development of the party system in historical and contemporary democracies. She has received numerous awards for her work, most recently the James B. Christoph Prize from the British Politics Group organized section of the American Political Science Association. She completed her PhD in Political Science at the University of Rochester in 2017.
