ECONtribute Cluster member Matthias Sutter has been appointed a member of the Leopoldina. The Leopoldina unites researchers from more than 30 countries with outstanding expertise in their respective fields. The election is considered one of the highest honors for scientists.

Matthias Sutter is the Director of the Max Planck Institute for Research on Collective Goods in Bonn and part-time Professor of Experimental Economics at the Universities of Cologne and Innsbruck. He has been a Principal Investigator at the Cluster of Excellence ECONtribute at the Universities of Bonn and Cologne since 2019. Before taking over the executive management of the Max Planck Institute for Research on Collective Goods in 2017, he worked as a full professor in Florence (EUI), Innsbruck, and Cologne.
His research focuses on experimental economic research, with an emphasis on team decisions and the development of economic decision-making behavior in children and adolescents. The results of his research have been published in Science, Econometrica and the American Economic Review. He is currently co-editor of several journals, including Management Science and European Economic Review.
