Experimental Finance Summer School & Conference 2022

ECONtribute and the Society for Experimental Finance (SEF) invite to the Experimental Finance Summer School 2022 and the Experimental Finance Conference 2022.

Experimental Finance Summer School

The Summer School aims to deepen students’ understanding and knowledge of the field of experimental finance. Students taking part in the Summer School, are also invited to attend the Experimental Finance Conference. The exact program will be provided soon.

Date:

The Summer School will take place from Saturday, June 18, 2022 to Sunday, June 19, 2022 at the University of Bonn (Aula), Regina-Pacis-Weg 3, 53113 Bonn. 

Participants:

While everyone is welcome, the Summer School explicitly targets the following groups:

  • Young scholars from finance and economics departments who belong to a non-experimental research group at their University, but are interested in pursuing research in Experimental Finance.
  • Young scholars from finance and economics departments that are embedded in an experimental group but want to improve their experimental skills and get an overview of some of the main fields in a systematic way.

Registration and Fees:

The registration deadline for the Summer School is March 15, 2022. Notification of acceptance will be provided until March 31, 2022. The fee for participating in the summer school is 50 €. For summer school participants who also register for the Experimental Finance Conference, the participation fee for the summer school is waived.

Experimental Finance Conference 2022

The conference also serves as the 12th annual meeting of the Society for Experimental Finance.

Date:

The Conference will take place at Hotel Collegium Leoninum in Bonn from Monday, June 20, 2022 to Wednesday, June 22, 2022.

  • Samuel Hartzmark (Booth School of Business, University of Chicago)
  • Michèle Tertilt (University of Mannheim)

Program:

We invite you to submit full papers or extended abstracts with a minimum of 1000 words using experimental methods covering all areas of finance. You can find more information in our Call for Papers or on the SEF website: https://www.experimentalfinance.org/.

Manuscripts can be submitted until March 15, 2022. You will receive your notification of acceptance until April 15, 2022.

Presentations will be given either in plenary sessions or in parallel sessions. Submissions will be peer-reviewed.The final program will be provided in May 2022.

2022 Vernon L. Smith Young Talent Award in Experimental Finance:

The best paper of a junior researcher presented at the SEF conference 2021 will receive the Vernon L. Smith Young Talent Award in Experimental Finance, offered by the Society for Experimental Finance and Chapman University. Only completed papers (extended abstract is not sufficient) accepted to the SEF conference are eligible. Papers with full professors as main/first authors or as the majority of authors are not eligible.

The winning junior author(s), will receive a prize of US$8000 for future research in Experimental Finance. If there are several co-authors, the amount is split equally among all junior authors. The panel members reserve the right to split the prize between two winning papers.

The winning paper will be announced at the conference. The panel members are:

  • Elena Asparouhova (University of Utah)
  • Michael Kirchler (University of Innsbruck)
  • Stefan Palan (University of Graz)
  • Dave Porter (Chapman University)

The registration fee for the Conference is 380 Euros for faculty members and post docs and 250 Euros for students. It covers the participation in all lectures as well as one dinner, all meals and refreshments during breaks.
