Christian Bayer recieved his PhD from the university of Dortmund in 2004. After having held positions in the EUI and Bocconi, he became a full professor at the University of Bonn in 2008. His work focuses on the macroeconomics of heterogenous agents, both firms and households, for which he was awarded the Hermann- Heinrich Gossen Prize of the Verein für Sozialpolitik in 2022. He also was awarded two ERC grants (2012 and 2017). He has published in the leading economics journals (Econometrica, American Economic Review) as well as in the leading macroeconomics outlets. He is also a member of the Academic Advisory Board of the German Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology, was a visiting professor at the German Federal Ministry of Finance, and served on the German Gas Crisis Commission in 2022.
