Fani Lauermann is a Professor of Empirical Educational Research and Educational Psychology at the University of Bonn and a Research Associate at the Institute for Research on Education and School Development (IFS) at TU Dortmund University. She earned her Ph.D. from the Combined Program in Education and Psychology (CPEP) at the University of Michigan and was a postdoctoral researcher in the Gender and Achievement Research Program (GARP) at the Institute for Social Research (ISR) at Michigan. She served as an elected coordinator of SIG8 of the European Association for Learning and Instruction (EARLI), representing members from over 30 countries, and is a past associate editor of EARLI’s flagship journal, Learning and Instruction. She is also a past guest editor for one of APA’s flagship journals, Educational Psychologist. Her research focuses on (a) academic motivation and achievement, (b) educational trajectories, educational and occupational choices, and (c) teacher motivation and teaching quality
