Prior to joining the University of Bonn, Zainab Iftikhar was an Assistant Professor of Economics at Goethe-University Frankfurt and a research affiliate at the CEPR. She graduated with a double PhD in Economics from the Université catholique de Louvain and the University of Bielefeld in 2018.

Her research interests lie with economic development, familiy economics and international migration. Her work has been published in the Journal of Monetary Economics, the Journal of International Economics and the Review of Economic Dynamics.
