Prosperity, Pensions and Policy Reforms: New Episode of the ECONtribute Wirtschaftspodcast

01.02.2024
Why is wealth distributed more unequally in Germany than almost anywhere else in the euro area? What does the pension system have to do with it? And can a share-based pension help combat inequality? These are the questions addressed in the new episode of the ECONtribute Wirtschaftspodcast – now available on all major podcast portals.

In the new episode, host Carolin Jackermeier talks to Christian Bayer, Professor of Macroeconomics at ECONtribute at the University of Bonn. Bayer researches financial crises, fiscal policy and inequality, among other things.

We talk about what a “wealth for all” could look like, what Germany has failed to do in terms of pension policy and whether the system can still be reformed in time before the baby boomer generation retires.
